Wellingtons premiere DnB crew, Bass Frontiers, are saying goodbye for 2009 with a huge gig to celebrate their 10th year ending and the festive season. The BF guys have dragged out The Upbeats to play their final NZ show before the huge Phat10 new years eve party.

Last year’s winner, Import, finally took top spot after entering 6 previous competitions and has since gone on to release a mix CD with Empathy recordings and supporting international DJs around the country.

Empathy Recordings in association with Bassdrop.co.nz are pleased to announce the release of Rumble in the Jungle the CD, mixed by 2008 Rumble champion DJ Import. Part of Import’s prize pack was the opportunity to record his mix of the finest selection of Drum and Bass & Dubstep tracks from top local and international producers.
It took 7 years of trying, but finally, John Chea, Aka DJ Import, has become the national champion of the Jansen Rumble in the Jungle Drum and Bass DJ Competition. Held at the San Francisco Bath House, in Wellington on the 4th of October, Import, from Christchurch, competed against 7 other DJs from around the country, to become the first DJ outside of Wellington to take the title.
