Yes I am pretty excited about this tour. For the first time in over 20 years, Dom and Roland is making his presence known to the NZ drum and bass scene with his heavyweight DJ style.

A regular on many heads top ten tunes lists, Dom and Roland is one of those producers who helped shape Drum and Bass as it is today. And the man is still putting out quality releases, the latest being the 'No Strings Attached' LP, after which this tour is named.

If you want to catch him, he's in Wellington and Auckland only, on the 5th and 6th of February respectivally. Don't miss it.

Hey everyone, happy start to 2010!

To those of you that made it to Phat10, congratulations, you witnessed a sweet collection of DJs in an amazing arena, the Phat crew should be patted on the back for their hard work in getting such a successful event going!

Just a quick note to say that now the craziness of December has passed, and now I'm full steam ahead to finishing the new version of Bassdrop. This year the site should be taking a few major steps to embrace the social networking trend of the WWW, and we'll also be making huge improvements to the forum. For now though, make sure you pop into the forum, and discuss some of the massive upcoming tours that NZ is set to hold.

Take care, and good luck with your new years resolutions!

12 months ago, the name Consequence wasn't widely known outside of the New Zealand Drum and Bass scene. Then 2009 happened. Having been featured heavily on the enormously popular Club Autonomic podcasts, Consequence (aka Cam McLaren) has capped off a stellar year with the release of his debut album, Live For Never, on dBridge's seminal Exit Records imprint. With the year drawing to an end, he has a chat with Matty Baseline about his album, New Zealand's influence on his music and playing at Phat 10.

The Phat 10 Festival, the South Islands phattest 4-day New Years Party to be staged in the scenic wild Inangahua Valley on the West Coast, will feature the biggest breakbeat act on the planet today “PENDULUM”. The 4 original members ANSCENIC, SPEED, EL HORNET & MC VERSE will be bringing a cutdown version of their legendary live show including a massive visual element to test out the new material off their forthcoming album due out in March next year. Gareth McGrillen, founding member of the group, in an interview this week states “ we like to preview our new tunes on our home turf in Australia before each new release & Phat10 will get the first & exclusive experience of the new look Pendulum. We’re bringing our own visual people with a new setup, 2 of us playing Ableton Live with samples & electronic elements, El Hornet DJing & Verse MCing, a very high energy fusion of live beat mixing combining the best of the live & DJ sets”.

It may be cliched to say it, but this year has gone bloody quickly. But before we begin the wind-down towards Christmas and the big New Year's Eve parties, there's one last tour to get out of the way. And what a stunner it is to wrap the year up.

Originally from Sao Paulo, the home of Brazillian Drum & Bass, DJ S.P.Y. is one of the hottest names in the scene at the moment. His productions have found their way into the record boxes of everyone from Goldie and Doc Scott to Bryan G and Marky and are being released on labels from Samurai and Soul:R to Innerground and CIA.
